Jude Law Returns as Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts Sequel
Jude Law will once again join the cast of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Law will reprise his role as Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts in the upcoming sequel. This marks a return for the actor after he played the role in the first film back in 2016. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 is set to be released on November 16th, 2020.
Dumbledore is a highly sought after character in the Harry Potter franchise and Law is no stranger to playing iconic roles. He is perhaps best known for his role as James Bond’s mentor, Q, in the Bond films. Why Jude Law Signed on for the Role
Jude Law is set to play the role of Dumbledore in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them sequel. The 62-year-old actor joins an already impressive cast that includes Eddie Redmayne, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, and Katherine Waterston.
Dumbledore was one of J.K. Rowling’s most popular characters, appearing in all eight books of her Harry Potter series. He is a powerful wizard and Hogwarts headmaster who helps mentor Harry Potter. In Fantastic Beasts, he will be played by Law alongside Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Farrell as Gellert Grindelwald.
Law has been a long-time fan of the Harry Potter series and was excited to join the cast of Fantastic Beasts. He said: “I’m so thrilled to be playing this fantastic role in the next instalment of the Wizarding World.”
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is set for release on November 18th 2016.
What to Expect from the Sequel
Looking forward to the Fantastic Beasts sequel? Here’s what to expect!
According to director David Yates, the sequel is “going to be quite a dark story” that will explore “the darker side of magic.” It’s set several years after the first movie and “will follow Newt Scamander [played by Eddie Redmayne] as he tries to understand the world outside of Hogwarts.”
We can also expect more magical creatures, including a new villain played by Katherine Waterston. Yates says she’s “a really interesting character” who will challenge Dumbledore.
Plus, there may be some surprises in store for fans of the Harry Potter series. Rowling herself has hinted that Dumbledore might make an appearance in Fantastic Beasts 2, so keep your eyes peeled!
What’s Next for Jude Law
Jude Law is returning to the big screen in the upcoming sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The 50-year-old actor will play a new character in the film, which is set decades after the original.
Law’s role has not been revealed yet, but it is likely that he will play Dumbledore again. Fans of the Harry Potter series will remember that Dumbledore was Law’s breakout role and he won an Academy Award for his performance in the 2005 film.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, director David Yates said that Law’s return was “a no-brainer.” He added, “We love Jude and we love what he does.”
Law has already filmed some scenes for the movie and it sounds like his involvement in the project is very much welcome. Yates described him as “a phenomenal actor” who brings a lot of “heart and soul” to his work.
It remains to be seen what other roles Law will take on in future films, but we can definitely expect more of him in Fantastic Beasts 2.
